2. Marin County Triathlon A Huge Success

The 2nd annual Marin County Triathlon was a big success with over 700 people racing on a beautiful day in the Bay! Race director, Mark Liebert, once again is graciously donating a portion of proceeds from his race to Jenny’s Light. Pro winners Sarah Haskins and TJ Tollaksen are also each donating $5,000 to our cause. Kevin Bohnert of San Francisco was our biggest individual fundraiser. A huge THANK YOU to Mark, Sarah, TJ, Kevin, and all of the participants & individual fundraisers who helped support Jenny’s Light! You are all continuing to help us shine and make a difference in the lives of many women & families. Registration for next year’s event will be up soon… http://www.marintriathlon.com/ index.html </DIV">

3.  November 17th (Tomorrow) is Give To The Max Day

Give to the Max Day is from 8:00 a.m. on November 17, 2009 until 8:00 a.m. CST on November 18, 2009

Every donation made during Give to the Max Day will now receive a portion of the $500,000 match. This means the exact amount matched per dollar donated will be determined after Give to the Max Day concludes. We will divide the $500,000 of matching funds by the total donations.

By making every donation eligible for a portion of the $500,000 match, we hope to ensure all donors have a positive experience and are encouraged to donate throughout the entire 24-hour Give to the Max Day time period.

In addition to the $500,000 match, www.givemn.org is offering two other exciting incentives for our donors:

  • The three nonprofits that receive donations from the most individual donors will receive cash prizes: $5,000 for first prize, $2,500 for second, and $1,000 for third.
  • Transaction costs for gifts made on Give to the Max Day will be covered, so 100 percent of gifts made on GiveMN will go straight to Jenny's Light.

How do the matching contributions work?

Give to the Max Day is from 8:00 a.m. on November 17, 2009 until 8:00 a.m. cst on November 18, 2009. Every donation made during Give to the Max Day will receive a portion of the $500,000 match. This means the exact amount matched per dollar donated will be determined after Give to the Max Day concludes. We will divide the $500,000 of matching funds by the total donations.

Examples of how the matching dollars will work: if Give to the Max Day inspires $500,000 in donations, we will provide $1 in matching funds per dollar donated to an organization; if Give to the Max Day inspires $2,000,000 in donations, we will provide $.25 in matching funds per dollar donated to an organization

9.  Mail Bag

We greatly appreciate your letters and emails of support, feedback and personal PPD stories. This month, we'd like to pass along these kind words:

Hello, my name's Danielle.
I first became aware of Jenny's Light (site) almost two years ago when I was working for a bike company (Gregg's Green Lake Cycles) that stocked clothing from a really cool bike company that I can't recall the name of now.  But I remembered going to their site and seeing a link for Jenny's Light and it's stuck with me for a long time.  I work in Death Care now as a receptionist and I also make memorial jewelry particularly for mothers who've lost young children.  I would like to ask you if it's OK to donate a percentage of the proceeds of my memorial pieces to Jenny's Light and if it's permissable to list that on the information that I package my pieces in?
Thank you for your consideration!

Danielle
